ASTARA was founded by Marilyn Wise, LICDC with a vision of treating the whole person, not just the addiction. Marilyn is a licensed addiction counselor with more than 20 years of experience in holistic practices. She has witnessed the effective results of blending wellness modalities into the addiction treatment process and how it is a successful alternative to tradional addiction rehab.

We believe recovery means recovering the natural state of joy, love, and personal power with which we began our lives. We assist our clients in designing an individualized outpatient treatment program working with highly trained professionals to help restore the individual to who they are meant to be, in all facets of their lives. By integrating, the most effective, healing, and empowering modalities, we offer our clients renewed health of their body, mind and spirit. 

We believe that people can learn to release the false beliefs, pain, shame and fear that create and fuel addictions. Once released, we help our clients discover their true passion and sense of purpose in their lives. Using the model of a tree, healing the roots of addiction can serve to allow the tree to then grow strong and tall, reaching towards the stars.
